Bad Check Program

The Plumas County District Attorney’s Office assists in administering a “bad check” program. This program allows local merchants to be made whole when victimized by persons passing checks with insufficient funds while not engaging the often expensive and time-consuming criminal justice system. This diversionary program is established by Penal Code section 1001.60 et seq. Consistent with Government Code section 26503, as well as the fundamental need for an ethical and transparent prosecuting agency, all proceeds from this program are directly deposited with the County Treasurer.
