Accessory Dwelling Units (ADU) Pre-Approved Plans, Idea Book, and Ordinance
Accessory Dwelling Units (ADU) Pre-Approved Plans, Idea Book, and Ordinance
The Idea Book was created through the use of a Senate Bill 2 Planning Grant Program from the California Department of Housing and Community Development to assist homeowners with the development and review process for accessory dwelling units and ultimately to support Plumas County’s goals for creating more affordable housing options.
The Idea Book explains an expedited process of permitting an ADU using four Pre-Designed architectural plans. The engineered construction documents are provided by Plumas County at no cost and include design details, architectural styles, structural plans, and utility plans. The Pre-Designed ADUs have been pre-plan checked and approved by the Building Department. Note, parcel-specific site plan information will be required for Planning Department staff review to demonstrate how the ADU will fit on a parcel and conform to zoning. See Section 2 of the Idea Book for the steps required to permit a Pre-Designed ADU plan.
