Learning Resources - Library Card Required

LearningExpress supports those looking to improve core academic skills, pass the GED, prepare for college, join the military, obtain occupational certification, find a job, change careers, become a U.S. citizen, and much more. Links to LearningExpress are only available after you sign into your account through www.plumaslibrary.org (it will be a clearly marked link on the left-hand side.) 

Please note, to access a tutorial, take a test, or download an eBook, all new users must register a personal account by providing their first name, email address, and password. (You can also create an alternate account without the name/email address requirement by clicking on the “Register without Email” option.)

LinkedIn Learning provides unlimited, cost-effective access to great content from Lynda.com. It gives users of any skill level bite-size tutorials or comprehensive courses on hundreds of topics.  

Coursera offers more than 5,000 courses, Professional Certificates, and degrees from world-class universities and companies. Click the link, enter your name, email address, and zip code, add Plumas County Library from the drop-down menu, click "agree" on the page it takes you to, add your barcode and password (remember it is the last four digits of your barcode), and you'll be signed up.  

You will only have access to the website until September 14, 2023, no matter when you sign up.

Encyclopedia Britannica offers a comprehensive interactive resource for research and learning for grades K-12. Includes correlations to CA Content Standards and other valuable teacher resources. Click on the link and it offers you versions aimed at Elementary School kids (also available in Spanish), Middle School kids (also available in Spanish), and High School kids.

Gale Archives Unbound  - Offers topically-focused digital collections of historical documents that support the research and study needs of scholars and students at the college and university levels. Collections cover a broad range of topics from the Middle Ages to twentieth-century political history.

Gale In Context: Environmental Studies -  Understand environmental issues that affect people globally through topic overviews, journals, news, and multimedia content.  

Gale Interactive Science -  Manipulate 3D interactive models to visualize and understand concepts in biology, chemistry, earth, and space science.  

Gale National Geographic Kids - Explore amazing adventures in science, nature, culture, archaeology, and space. Best for children aged 6–14.
