[ARCHIVED] Asian Citrus Psyllid (ACP) found in Tulare County

On Nov. 16th an ACP was trapped in Tulare County triggering the establishment of an Interior Quarantine effective next week. This pest is a vector (carrier) for one of the worst citrus diseases in the world, Huanglongbing (HLB), commonly known as citrus greening. This is a bacterial disease that will kill an infected tree in about 5 to 10 years and cause the fruit to be misshapen and bitter. There is no cure for the disease.

HLB is not a threat to either Plumas or Sierra counties since it is limited to citrus, but it will negatively impact the California citrus industry.
