Most of the districts have received their annual allotments of de-icer sand and are now hauling asphalt grindings that Caltrans released to Public Works. The grindings are used to enhance portions of unpaved county roads by reducing dust and the frequency of maintenance.
On the 27th all Public Works employees attended a training presented by Jennifer Shaw of Shaw Valenza with the topic of preventing sexual harassment and bringing respect and professionalism to the workplace. Jennifer provided some useful information in the form of a power point as well as handouts.
The Public Works on-line auction at www.barnoneauction.com ended at 3:00 pm on July 15th netting over $109,000.00 to this department, over $10,000.00 to Transit, over $7,500.00 to Quincy Fire and almost $1,700.00 to the General fund. Along with the revenue, the auction removed 45 lots (equipment, vehicles and misc.) reducing the maintenance costs associated with older equipment.
